Although Ardent Care began in 2007, its foundation was laid some years before. The father of one of our owners was a brilliant man who was the first Filipino Administrator for CARE, the world relief organization. He also was an economist, a composer, a musician, and a writer. In 1999, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The family had caregivers who served him during the time he suffered from this devastating disease. They made a positive impact on him and his family. He passed away after 10 years.
We decided to start Ardent Care in a memory of this wonderful man, Domingo Batalla. Originally, the company was founded by Lynette Mackowick and Lou Batalla-Toya. Soon both of their husbands joined the team – Paul Mackowick and Tom Toya.
Our agency is built upon compassion, integrity, and respect. As we remember our past, we focus on the present and the future with greater passion and a heart to serve the elderly.
Going Above and Beyond For Our Clients
Pat, one of our beloved clients, recently became ill and was admitted to Elmhurst Hospital. Pat’s daughter called us the following evening and asked if we could have a caregiver come to the hospital that night to provide care for her father.
Two of our case managers, Lou and Tom picked up the caregiver in Plainfield and brought her to Elmhurst Hospital around 9:45 pm. The minute Pat saw the caregiver, his eyes brightened! He grinned and began telling jokes. Pat’s daughter commented that her father “came to life” when our caregiver arrived. Lou and Tom spent some time with Pat and his daughter. They all held hands and prayed for him. They left the caregiver at the hospital for continuum of non-medical care.
In two days, Pat was discharged from the hospital. The family believes that our caregivers were influential in Pat’s quick recovery. We are privileged to bless our clients and their families and be a part of their lives. We believe in treating people with respect and integrity, and have a passion to serve seniors. Pat’s life was changed – a life touched by Ardent Care.
